YuaVonda Mae Weeks, age 71, lifelong resident of Shawnee passed from this life on Thursday, February 20, 2025 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She was born September 17, 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Wendell and Edna LaViness. She was raised in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1971. She attended nursing school at OSU and Seminole Junior College.
YuaVonda married David Sperry in 1973 in Shawnee, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She had another chance at love and married Carl Weeks on October 11, 2008 in Shawnee.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at several nursing facilities. She worked most of her career at Golden Rule Nursing Home until she retired in 2008 due to health issues. In her youth, she was a member of East Main Church of Christ, and later Central Church of Christ in Shawnee. She was an active member that enjoyed and loved her church family. She enjoyed traveling with Carl in their travel trailer. Her favorite places to visit were Las Vegas, Yellowstone and Branson. She enjoyed the shows at the Sight & Sound Theater in Branson. She was also an OSU Cowboys fan.
YuaVonda is preceded in death by; her parents; her husband, David Sperry, and her brother, Darrin LaViness.
Her memory is kept alive by; husband, Carl Weeks of the home; children, Carl Michael Weeks and wife Kelli of Plano, TX, David Weeks and wife Laura of Pensacola, FL, and Shari Murrin and husband Leon of McAlester, OK; Seven Grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren with one on the way; niece, Michelle LaViness of Prague, OK; nephew, Eric LaViness of Valentine, NE; and many loving church family.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Central Church of Christ, Shawnee Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh
