William Hugh “Bill” Barkley of Tecumseh, OK, passed away in Shawnee, OK after a short illness on February 16, 2024, at the age of 88.
Bill joins his sister, Anne Barkley Powers, father, Dr. Fred A. Barkley, mother, Elizabeth Ducker Barkley, and brother, Robert Wheeler “Bob” Barkley in eternal rest. He is lovingly remembered by his niece-in-law, Sheri Powers and grandniece, Stephanie Powers and loving care takers; nephews John “Vince” Powers, Charles “Chuck” Barkley, Mark Barkley, Tracey Barkley, Perry Barkley, and Scott Barkley; sister-in-law, Marilyn Barkley; as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and his beloved cat, Buster.
Bill was a proud graduate of Tecumseh High School and the University of Oklahoma and worked for most of his life as a long-haul truck driver. An avid sports fan, Bill loved to cheer his Sooners to victory. He loved animals (especially cats), geography, country music, western novels, working in his garden, ghost towns, and visits with friends and relatives.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2024 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the OK Humane Society or an animal charity of your choice.
