William Casey Obituary

William Grady (Papoo) Casey, age 78, passed away on April 30, 2025.

Grady was born on December 17, 1946 in Haskell, Texas to Joseph William (J.W.) Casey and Maxie Ray Burson.

Grady spent his childhood as an “Air Force Brat” travelling overseas with his parents during the Korean War where his mother worked on base in French Morocco where his father was stationed.  When they returned to the states (to the chagrin of their in house “nanny” who loved him as her own), Grady enjoyed driving the tractor and working on the farm along with playing football and basketball.  He graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1965 then meandered through West Texas in Canyon, Lubbock Christian, Ranger and UT Arlington studying Photography and Geology.

Grady worked with his wife, Beverly Casey at General Motors in Arlington, TX.  He then later migrated with the family and animals to Oklahoma to help start the OKC General Motors plant.  He and his wife made a great many lifelong friends at GM and after leaving GM worked for the Sonic Corporation, started a landscaping business, and ultimately landed at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he became The Geologist for the State of Oklahoma until his retirement.

Along with bowling, fishing, and other activities, he was an avid lover of animals, photography, rock collecting, crossword puzzles, carpentry, American History, and long road trips.

Grady was one of the toughest, kindest, and most dependable people God created.  We will miss his smile, his laugh, and his good nature, but we will remember and carry on the things he taught and shared with us, like the “My Bridge” game, putting peanuts in your Dr. Pepper bottle, “The Law”, and his example of love and devotion to family and especially his wife Beverly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph William (J.W.) Casey, mother, Maxie Ray Burson, grandson, Maverick Reed Sanders, son-in-law, Justin Bedford, and his wife, Beverly Casey.

He is survived by his sister, Rhea Lyn Newton and husband Stephen Mack Newton; children, Brandi Bedford, Tyla Beach and partner Tim Beck, Billy Bean and wife Stacy, and Chad Casey and wife Erica. Grandchildren: Tiffini Beach, Justin Scott Bedford (Scotty) and wife Brandi "Junior" Keel, Callie Avery and husband Johnny, Taylor Sanders and husband Orion, Jacob Pulley, Sarah Pulley, Barrett Bean, and Reed Casey. Great grandchildren: Skylee Avery, Raulstn Sanders, Axl Bedford, Rawly Sanders, Audrey Avery, and Remmi Sanders, friends and extended family.

And while we are happy you are reunited with your Maker, and now again side-by-side with your soulmate, Bev, you are missed by us all.

If you would like to make a donation in his name in lieu of flowers or plants, please donate to your favorite charity or S.P.A.R.
