Willa Ragland Obituary

Willa Jean Ragland, 73, passed away on April 11, 2026, in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, surrounded by family and friends who deeply loved her. Caring for her during her final journey was one of the greatest honors.

Willa was born on April 19, 1952, in Hobart, Oklahoma. She attended and graduated from Deer Creek Public Schools in 1970. On April 21, 1973, she married the love of her life, Albert Ragland, in Hialeah, Florida, near Miami. After their marriage, they returned to Oklahoma to be near family, where they built a warm, welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and the steady presence of family.

A devoted homemaker, Willa found joy in caring for her family. She was known for her incredible cooking—especially her homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, banana bread, fried catfish and hush puppies, her famous taco salad, and so much more. Her kitchen was a gathering place, and her meals were an expression of her love.

Willa’s idea of perfect family time was having all her children and grandchildren together at her and Albert’s lake house in Eufaula. Those gatherings—filled with stories, food, and the simple joy of being together—were among her happiest moments and will forever be cherished by those who shared them. If you ever needed Willa to smile bright, all it took was one of her grandchildren coming to see her or calling her. Her grandchildren truly were a joy to her.

After losing Albert in 2012, Willa found comfort and companionship at the American Legion in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, where she spent many years attending dances and activities. She loved dancing with friends and listening to the live band, and those evenings brought her joy, laughter, and a renewed sense of community.

Willa was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ragland; her grandson, Micheal Quarrels; her parents, Wilburn and Bessie Mayo and Don and Reba Luschen; her sister and brother‑in‑law, Joretta and Roy Glenn; and her sisters‑in‑law, Janice and Alice Luschen.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Melisha and John Platt, Amanda and Scott Dueck, April and Rob Wilson, and Joe and Judi Ragland, all of Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: John and Jacob Platt of Norman, Oklahoma; Hannah and Bailey Davis of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; Alex Dickinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Precilla Wolfe of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; Rebecca Quarrels of Macomb, Oklahoma; Isabella Sharp of Macomb, Oklahoma; and Siobhan Degraffenreid of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Additional survivors include her nieces, Jamie Glenn and Becky Montelogo of the Oklahoma City area; her brother, Donnie Luschen of Jones, Oklahoma; her dear friend, Darlene Dodson of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; and many more family members and friends who loved her dearly.
