Waunima “June” (Smith) O’Donnell, 93, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at her home.
She was born December 8, 1928 in North Seminole County, Oklahoma to Thomas “Tom” J. Smith, Sr. and Ruby Mae (Hale) Smith.
June attended Excelsior Grade School, Butner High School and graduated from Wewoka High School. She attended OSU for one semester on a 4-H Scholarship.
She married Dee Ray O’Donnell on February 2, 1948 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2007.
June along with her husband, Dee owned and operated Dee’s Uniforms in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 30 years.
She was a member of Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh. June had a green thumb-everything she planted flourished. After selling their business, Dee and June moved to Wewoka. For several years they traveled all over the U.S. in an RV and eventually sold their home in Wewoka and became full-time RVer’s until Dee’s health declined. It was then that they settled in Tecumseh. June was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, helped with Food Bank Distribution, and with the preparation and serving of meals for funerals at church. She was always ready and willing to help others with their needs until her health prevented her from doing so.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Ray O’Donnell; parents, Tom and Ruby Mae Smith, Sr.; great-grandson, Daemon Watson; brothers, Tom Smith, Jr. and Don Smith and nephew, Greg Smith.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are 2 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Dawn O’Donnell of Holdenville, OK and Kent and Leah Angela O’Donnell of Norman, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Dee Ann and Larry Watson of Rockdale, TX; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
