Wanda Lee Butler

Wanda Lee Butler, 88, of Shawnee passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

She was born on October 4, 1932 in Okemah, Oklahoma to John B. and Nellie (Crawford) Ricketts.

Wanda grew up in Cromwell, Oklahoma. She lived in other places but, most of her life in Shawnee. She graduated from Butner High School in Butner, Oklahoma.

She married Lautes Crane “L.C.” Butler on April 4, 1978 in Coke County, Texas. 

Wanda was a Homemaker and worked as a telephone operator.  She liked to sew and cook.  She made an excellent chocolate pie.  She was a member of New Beginnings Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband “L.C.” in 2013, 2 brothers, Donald Joe Ricketts, and Eddie Ricketts; 3 sisters, Maxine Barnes, Carolyn Sue Gregory, and Cindy Granado.       

Those left to cherish her memory are 3 daughters, Connie (Dennis) Gwaltney of Tecumseh,

Gloria Duncan of Shawnee, Dianna (Larry) James of Seminole; son, John (Alice) Curry of Stringtown; 5 grandchildren; Anitra (Brian) Kennedy, Marisa (Brandon) Fore, Toby Servis, Miles Neaville, and Sharina Curry; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Charlotte) Ricketts of Moore; sister, Kathy King of Shawnee; numerous neices, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Little Cemetery, Little, Oklahoma with Larry Sparks officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
