Wanda Sue (Shankle) Swenson

Wanda Sue Swenson, age 80, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Sue was born September 12, 1943, in King City, California, to Elder and Janie Katherine (Armor) Shankle.

She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1961, and attended college for interior design, home economics, and horticulture.

Sue married Oren Swenson on February 28, 1973, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. 

She worked as an interior designer and gardener for many years which she enjoyed.  She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church of Shawnee for over 28 years. 

She was preceded in death by her father; Elder Leon Shankle, her mother; Janie Katherine McKellips, and her brother; John Shankle.

Sue is survived by her husband, Oren Swenson of the home, her daughters: Crystal Dixon of Moore and Kari Kendrick of Caddo; her three grandchildren: Bryan Swenson, Alana Kendrick and Nathan Kendrick, and her brothers: Gary Shankle of Shawnee, Rick Shankle of Bossier City, LA, and Dan Shankle of Bossier City, LA and numerous other family and friends. 

Per Sue’s wishes no formal services will be held. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.  There will be no viewing.
