Virginia Rose (Weems) Jacobs, 97, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in her home on July 10, 2024, surrounded by family.
Virginia was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on August 21, 1926 to Walter Adrian and Elizabeth J. Weems. She attended school in Shawnee, Oklahoma where she met her future husband. She had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She married Carl E. Jacobs on July 1, 1944. They raised 4 Children before opening their home to many foster children. The final foster child, Catrina Joy was adopted by Carl & Virginia in the late 1980’s. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed watching her father & brother participate in roping events at local rodeos. She loved having a house full of family. Virginia loved birds, especially her canaries. She also loved her African Violets, and her aquarium was always full of fish. She was an avid Oklahoma University Football fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Jacobs; her parents Walter A. and Elizabeth J. Weems; sisters Zenobia and Maxine; brothers, Manual, Sylvester (Skeet), WA “Jack” and Billy-Ray Weems; grandsons Mike and Noah Shirey.
Virginia is survived by Marian and Dan Hembree, Stratford, TX; Brenda and Jimmy Blassingame, Shawnee, OK; Peggy Humphreys, Ardmore, OK; Catrina “Joy” Jacobs, Shawnee, OK; Carl and Jana Jacobs, Shawnee, OK; grandchildren, Melanie and Larry Martin, Midland TX; Tony and Shelly Blassingame, Shawnee, OK; Scott and Karla Daley, Shawnee, OK; Russell and Kristen Hembree, Dalhart, TX; Sherry and Alan Blankenship, Shawnee, OK; Cory Daley, Seminole, OK; Brandy Daley, Seminole, OK; BJ and Mariya Jacobs, Tecumseh, OK; Nathan and Katy Jacobs Gallatin, TN; Amanda Shirey, Shawnee, OK; Kim and Chad Dibbler, Harrah, OK; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday July 14, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2024 at Tecumseh Cemetery with Reverend Clint Dawkins of Sharon Baptist Church, Tecumseh, Oklahoma officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
