Obituary
Virginia Goodin passed away on Friday, July 28 at the age of 83 in a skilled nursing facility in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on January 23, 1940, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Wayne Leroy Hodges and Ruby Iris Childers and was raised by her mother and stepfather Jesse Lee Ott and her grandparents William and Blossie Childers. She attended Bethel schools outside of Shawnee.
In 1957 she married Jim Riley Goodin, and they had two sons, raising them first on a turkey farm in Shawnee where Jim was employed while finishing school at Oklahoma Baptist University. Upon graduation the family lived in Oklahoma City, Hopewell (New Jersey), Yukon and Mustang, Oklahoma. In 1973 Jim and Virginia were divorced and she moved to the Salt Lake City, Utah area to start a new life. While in the Salt Lake/Park City area she worked for numerous real estate companies as a realtor. She loved snow skiing, traveling, cooking, entertaining and spending time with her numerous friends. She returned to Oklahoma in 2008 to spend the remainder of her life with her family and helping take care of her two granddaughters Hannah and Maggie.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and a baby sister Mary Sue Hodges.
She is survived her two sons and their spouses Jim Riley Goodin, II (Amy) of Norman, Oklahoma and Kim Rowdy Goodin (Karen) of Mustang, Oklahoma and a stepson Ned Christensen in Florida. Seven grandchildren Mandi, Cassye, Jim III, Rowdy, Kaiann, Maggie, and Hannah; and two step grandchildren Sarah and Rachel. Additionally, she was survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her loving sister Aljnita Pitt and her husband Kenny of Norman, Oklahoma, two brothers Don Alan and Jesse Lee Ott; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a great aunt Deloris Birkicht.
Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, OK is handling arrangements. Private services to be conducted in the future. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery in Bethel Acres.
