Vernon Stone Obituary

Vernon “Dale” Stone, age 82, of Anadarko, OK passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 in Anadarko. 

He was born March 5, 1938 in Shawnee, OK to Tom and Perlie Stone. 

Dale moved to Carnegie in the mid 1940’s. He proudly served his country, joining the US Army in July 1955. He served in DaChau, Germany 37 months and 6 days. Dale returned to the United States in January 1959 and was stationed at Fort Sill. He was honorably discharged in October 1959. 

Dale then went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas on November 9, 1959 and retired from there in 1993 in Anadarko, OK. 

He loved to fish, hunt, and go camping at Toledo Bend and Fort Cobb Lake. Dale was great at telling jokes and loved to make people laugh. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Robert; an infant son; and step daughter Kimmy Noell. 

Dale is survived by his wife, Ann of the home; 4 step daughters, Renee (Allen) Ketter of Blanchard, OK, Sheila Stanford of Oklahoma City, OK, Lisa (Chris) Freeman of Blanchard, OK, and Tammy (Dean) Tilley of Mustang, OK; 1 step son, Rodney (Stacy) Martin of Mustang, OK;11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends. 

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
