Vernon Lee Crownover, age 80, of Oklahoma City passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 in Shawnee.
He was born September 21, 1942 to Troy and Juanita (Maxwell) Crownover in Richmond, California.
Vernon was raised in Tecumseh, Oklahoma and graduated with the class of 1960 from Tecumseh High School.
After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969.
Vernon moved to Oklahoma City after his military service and went to work for S.W. Bell Telephone and retired after 29 years of service. He later worked for McClain’s RV, worked security for windmills and drove trucks.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Juanita Crownover; son, Kevin Lee Crownover; and brother, Gene Crownover.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Terry Hedge of Meeker, OK; son and daughter-in-law, David and Beth Crownover of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Chante Kizer of Harrah, OK and Audrey and Matt James of Chandler, OK; great-grandchildren, Reagan Kizer, Allie Kizer, Jack Kizer and Bentley James; many cousins, other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2023 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
