Tyra (Stewart) Parsons died peacefully in her Norman home on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the age of 61.
Tyra was born in 1959 in Oklahoma City to Leola Brooks, and was one of five children. Many of her siblings were lost in the foster service, and Tyra took great pride in reconnecting all of her siblings over the course of her lifetime.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Jock Parsons; and her mother-in-law, Corinna. Also preceding her in death is her sister Reva May Stewart, and her brother Jackie Grey.
Tyra is survived by her five children, Michelle Price and husband Thomas, Emmanda Potter, Miranda Kieffer and husband Jay, Blake Parsons, and Brock Parsons and wife Cynthia; her sister, Tawanda Payne, her brother Martin Stewart and his mother Beverly; and special cousins Bob and Rosie Riley; father-in-law, Buck Parsons; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Sherrie Parsons and Robby and Debbie Parsons. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Raven and Chase McIver, Haven, Tommy, and Landry Price, Isabella and Clara Potter, Jayden and Gabriella Kieffer, and Amelia and Noah Parsons; and other extended family and friends.
For most of her life she lived in Tecumseh with “her Jock” as a homemaker. She was a self-taught carpenter, and loved gardening. To her husband and mother-in-law she was a full time caretaker at the end of their lives. More than anything else Tyra loved her children and grandchildren.
She was strong, tough and kind, and would do anything for her loved ones.
We love you so much, mom.
