Tony Smith

Tony Smith, 81, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home.

He was born August 25, 1939 to James Earl and Dorothy Pearl (Middleton) Smith in Konawa, Oklahoma.

Tony was raised in Asher and attended Asher Public Schools.  He has lived in Tecumseh for the last 35 years.

He married Darlene Marie Caskey on March 16, 1957 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  She preceded him in death on October 3, 2020.

Tony had many occupations, but mainly worked at Tinker Air Force Base painting airplanes which lead to his career as an Aircraft Mechanic for the FAA and retired in 1986. He was a farmer and rancher and one of the hardest working men around.  He was very instrumental in bringing the Rural Water District 3 to Pottawatomie County.  Tony also volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center in Wanette and helped organize the Asher Fire Department. But mainly he was all about taking care of his family and others.

He was preceded in death by wife, Darlene Marie Smith; his parents, James Earl and Dorothy Smith; and 3 sisters.

Tony is survived by his 2 daughters, Terri Lynn Nail of Pauls Valley, OK and Kerri Lynette Andrews of Shawnee, OK; 1 son, Jonathan Kent Smith of Macomb, OK; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

A private family burial is planned under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
