Terry McQueeney Obituary

Terry John McQueeney, 87, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was born June 10, 1937 in Bradford, Pennsylvania to Francis Joseph and Maxine (Lyons) McQueeney.

Terry spent his childhood years in Bolivar, New York, an area adjacent to the Alleghany National Forest.  He considered himself privileged to spend much of his youth hunting in the woods and assisting his father and uncle in the nearby oil fields.

In 1953 he left the forest behind when his family was transferred to Shawnee, Oklahoma for his father’s work in the oil industry.

Following graduation from Shawnee High School in 1955, he attended St. Gregory’s College and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1960 with a BS in Marketing.  While as OSU he was a member of PHI Kappa Tau Fraternity.  Terry studied pre-med/dental at Oklahoma University and was a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard (1960-1965).  He was accepted into dental school at Georgetown University, but the Cuban Missile Crisis intervened.  A loadmaster (rank of Tech. Sgt.) in the Air National Guard, he was called up for one year’s service.  After that year he decided to forego dental school.

Using his marketing skills, he joined Revlon and retired after 35 years of service as a National Account Manager and was know as the “Revlon Man.”  He also had a real estate brokerage and owned/manage several rental properties.

In 1979 he married Marie Hawkins.  Together, they raised her daughters, Stephanie and Michelle.

Terry enjoyed hunting and fishing, with Marie at Lake Eufaula.  They also traveled extensively.  Especially memorable was a visit to Ireland.  He was a member of the Shawnee Bass Club, N.R.A. and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Carole “Mickey” and his parents, Maxine and Francis McQueeney.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marie McQueeney of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie and Harry) Kimball of Ola, AR and Michelle McQueeney Gau of Edmond, OK; Grandsons, Dalton Gau of Oklahoma City, OK and Joshua Gau of Edmond, OK; Granddaughters, Jaycee and Justin Taylor of Union City, OK and Taylor Marie and Mat Bone of Yukon, OK; Great-grandchildren, Jaxon Taylor, Jade Taylor, Orion Bone, and Emyrs Bone; Cousins, Martha Pascarella, Diane Deacon, Mary   Pat McQueeney and John J.
