Solan Clarence Dodd, age 87 lifelong resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
He was born September 7, 1937 to Oscar and Reba (Rust) Dodd in Shawnee, OK.
Solan was raised in Shawnee, and graduated from Shawnee High School.
He married Patricia Cook on November 17, 1956 in Shawnee, OK.
Solan started working for the Santa Fe Railroad, and later worked as a machinist for Tinker AFB for several years before retiring. After retirement he worked for Sunset Estates in Tecumseh and retired after several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he coached baseball many years for the American Legion League.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Dodd; his grandson, Ricky "Rooster" Hall; and son-in-law, Michael Craig Tucker; 3 brothers, Raymond, John, and Rowland; 5 sisters, Wilma, Lillian, MaeBelle, Jewell, and Thelma.
Survivors include; two daughters, Tammy Keller of Shawnee and Sheila Tucker of Shawnee; 1 son, Curtis and Deborah Caylor of Virginia; 1 grandchild, Tiffany and Jasen Truelove of Shawnee; 5 great-grandchildren, Allyson, Mia, Rowland, Landon, and Taber; lifelong friend, Steve Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Graveside Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 18, 2024 at Tecumseh Cemetery with officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Honoring his wishes, there will be no viewing. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Loving Care Hospice for the excellent care of Solan.
