Shelia G. (Sheppard) Lott, age 76, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was born September 11, 1947 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Thomas “Pete” and Eula “Trixie” (Macklin) Sheppard.
Shelia was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and spent her first two years in Tecumseh before moving to the Macomb area for her early childhood and teenage years. After marrying Don Lott on November 11, 1966, who entered the Air Force, she embraced the life of a military spouse, living in various places. She spent time in Germany, Altus, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Oklahoma City before eventually returning to Tecumseh, Oklahoma, where she chose to spend the rest of her life.
She attended Harjo schools from 1st grade through 12th grade. Graduated from Harjo High School in 1965.
Shelia dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker, creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. Alongside her role at home, she also worked part-time at Hartoon's Jewelry for several years. She enjoyed helping and meeting people in the community, finding fulfillment in connecting with others while balancing the responsibilities of her family with care and devotion.
She was a devout Baptist for most of her life, attending the Romulus Baptist Church, and later the Tecumseh Baptist Church when she settled in Tecumseh. In her later years, she and her husband Don became part of the Pentecostal Church of God family, where she actively volunteered for various church functions. Shelia always held a strong faith and believed deeply in the Lord's word, work, and comfort.
Shelia enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved meeting with friends, going out for weekend breakfasts with her husband, attending church, and volunteering for church activities. She also cherished having lunch at the Tecumseh Senior Center, where she visited with long-time friends. A fan of Elvis and Neil Diamond, she found joy in their music. However, what mattered most to her was spending time with her grandchildren—playing with them, watching them grow, and celebrating their journey into young adulthood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, “Pete” and “Trixie” Sheppard; brother, Bill Sheppard; nephew, Randy Sheppard.
Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Lott of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sarah Lott of Edmond, OK; and grandchildren, Cooper Lott and Lainey Lott; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
