Sharon Ann (she hated that middle name) Head was born January 26, 1943, and after a fight with dementia that took her true self long before now she passed onto glory, Thursday, July 18, 2024. She was 81.
She was born to James E. Head and Iva R. Head in Bethel, Oklahoma. Sharon was the 6th of 7 kids. At the ripe ole age of 21 Sharon married Teddie Merle Souders of Shawnee, Oklahoma and started their life together. She and Merle celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2024. Their family started with Sharlynn. A few years later Teddy came along then Neetria. Sharon was the epitome of a stay-at-home mom. You could always find her in the audience of any of her kid’s activities. Before her grandkids came along, she had so many nieces and nephews from both sides. Sharon loved all of them and loved being around them whenever she could. She transitioned to Grandma with ease and those grandkids were her pride and joy. Sharon spoiled them and they let her.
Sharon was also devoted to God. For many years she made sure her kids were in church. Grace Bible Church was her long-attended church. She spent many years supporting this little church. So many members were just like her family to her. Even on her last days you could find her reading her Daily Bread books. She enjoyed Billy Graham and George Beverly Shay singing “How Great Thou Art”.
She loved being around people she loved. Sharon loved taking trips to see her family that lived in neighboring states. Her smile could make you feel welcome. She always had a hug for anyone. Sharon will be missed dearly by many loved ones and both friends and family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Merle; sister and brother in law, Joyce and Bill Stewart; her brother in law, Jim Rose; brother in law, Fred Souders; daughter, Sharlynn Hornbeck; son, Teddy Souders; daughter and son in law, Neetria and Dempsey Templeton; grandkids, Branden and Charleigh Buckmaster, Rose Templeton, Mason Templeton, Darcee Souders, and Kelly Templeton; great grandkids, Scottlynn, Riley, Emily, Sailor, Hanna, and Kayleigh; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024 and continue through service time. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Jones, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Tecumseh, OK officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
