Ronnie Allen Thorpe, Sr., 70, of Shawnee, Oklahoma sunset was Saturday, April 29, 2023, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sunrise was October 2, 1952 to George Thorpe, Jr. and Lorene (Factor) Thorpe in Pawnee, Oklahoma.

Ronnie was raised in Bethel Acres and attended Bethel High School.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Ronnie married Kelly Wood on March 10, 2000 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He worked in construction as a metal framer for many years.  He later went to barber school and became a barber. Ronnie also worked at Taylor Brothers Construction in Oklahoma City.

Ronnie was a member of Earlsboro Indian Baptist Church and faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

He loved playing horseshoes, watching westerns with his brother George, playing pool, painting, horse races and horses.  He enjoyed reading his Bible and loved spending time with his grandchildren and special niece, Jacey who he shared a special bond with.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Thorpe, Jr.; 1 grandchild; and nephew, George Thorpe IV.

Survivors include his wife Kelly Thorpe of the home; 3 daughters, Lorrie Thorpe of Norman, Melanie Thorpe of Lawton and Rachel Thorpe of Shawnee; 4 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Burke and Kathy Thorpe of Moore, Keenan Thorpe of Shawnee, Ronnie Allen Thorpe II of Shawnee and Derrick Thorpe of Shawnee; his mother, Lorene Thorpe; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George Thorpe III and Edwin Thorpe, Sr.; 4 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Janice and Benny Lena of Shawnee, Patricia & Sherman Brown of Shawnee, Dara Thorpe of Shawnee and Sandra Pawpa of Shawnee; father-in-law, Anthony Wood; and other extended family and friends.

Viewing will be 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home.  Wake Service will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Earlsboro Indian Baptist Church. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Earlsboro Indian Baptist Church with Reverend Victor Cope, First Indian Baptist Church, Moore, OK officiating.  Tribal Rites will follow at Thorpe Family Cemetery in Shawnee, OK with Eric Wensman officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
