Romona Lee Copeland age 89 of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed from this life Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was born December 23, 1934 in Macomb, Oklahoma to Alva and Dorothy (Waldron) Burden.
Romona attended Prairie View Grade School and graduated from Macomb High School in 1952.
She married Orville Romberg on February 18, 1955 at Rock Creek Baptist Church, and he passed away November 13, 1972. She later married Charles Calvin Copeland on May 08, 1980 in Eufaula, Oklahoma.
Romona worked at Sylvania Electric and was a homemaker later in life. She has been a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church since January of 1956. She was active in the church and served in many roles. Her family and friends remember the wonderful cookies and cakes she made for all the holidays, birthdays and other events. As well, her grandbabies and great grandbabies held a special place in her heart, and they lovingly called her “Granny.”
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Orville Romberg and Charles Copeland; sister, Peggy Rooker.
Survivors include sons, Terrell Romberg and Patti of Cordell, and Larry Romberg and Carol of Shawnee; 3 step-daughters, Pam Chamberlain and James of Tecumseh, Debra Motley and Steve of Shawnee, and Robin Babb and Stephen of Shawnee; 17 grandchildren, Zac and Kandice Holley, Jason and Cassie Romberg, Kiera and Steve Coffin, Jessica and Jason Holland, Taron and Ryan Sharp, Kasie Romberg, Garrett and Morgan Babb, Gabrielle and Tyler Sharp and Brooklyn and Cade Lauck; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Rick and Gypsy Burden; brother-in-law, Howard Rooker; and nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024 and continue through service time at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Darling and Reverend Terrell Romberg officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
