Robert Lee “Bob" Atkinson, age 84 of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed from this life Monday, January 13, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 26, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Raymond and Helen (Hoover) Atkinson. He grew up in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School.
Bob married Bette June Potts on April 10, 1959 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the First Presbyterian Church.
Bob served in the Army during the Korean war and was honorably discharged. He worked for OG&E as a construction supervisor and oversaw the building of substations all over Oklahoma and Arkansas. He retired in 1995 after 33 years of service. He was an avid baseball and football fan and loved watching the Braves, Cardinals, Yankees, and the Rangers.
He was preceded in death by; his parents, and his brother, Ralph Edward Atkinson; sister-in-law, Ona Dean Atkinson; and brother-in-law, Wesley Potts.
Those left to cherish his memory are; wife, Bette Atkinson of the home; daughter, Debbie Dye and husband Terry of Shawnee; daughter, Terrie Ledinski and husband David of Shawnee; grandchildren, Austin Ledinski and wife Sadie of Seminole, Amanda Ledinski of Shawnee, Emily Ledinski of Shawnee, and Shelby Dye of Tecumseh; three great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Atkinson of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Mae Potts of Shawnee, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2025 at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee with Pastor Keith Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
