With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Robert Lee Coots, who was born on July 22, 1952, in Shawnee Oklahoma. He passed from this life on March 26, 2026. He was proud of his Potawatomi heritage, a descendant of the Peltier family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment to family, and unwavering faith. Robert Coots was a man who loved deeply and lived a devoted life to his faith.
He was a constant presence, a source of unconditional love, and a man whose life reflected his values. Whether through quiet moments of encouragement or unwavering support, he made those around him feel loved and secure.
He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a passionate fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder, and many memories were made by watching games, celebrating victories, and sharing those moments with family and friends. To say he was his grandchildren's biggest fan is an understatement.
He also had a deep love for classic cowboy westerns and could sit for hours watching them, enjoying the stories, the fight, and the timeless sense of right and wrong that they portrayed — a reflection of the values he lived by.
He also enjoyed the little things that made life sweet. Whether it was a cold Diet Dr Pepper, peppermints in his pocket, or a stop for ice cream. These simple favorites became cherished memories for those who knew and loved him. It was in those everyday moments that his warmth and personality shined the most.
To his family, he was more than a father — he was a foundation. He led by example, teaching the importance of faith, presence, and perseverance. His love was constant, his guidance steady, and his presence always, especially at practices and games, is a gift that will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children: Timothy Coots and wife Telie Coots, Tobey Coots and wife Ellie Coots, Casey Coots, Ryan Coots and wife Whitney Coots, Nichole Parsons and husband Cole Parsons. His grandchildren: Destinee Orazio, Cherish Melendez, Timothy Coots Jr, Malachi Coots, Madeline Coots, Nathaniel Coots, Maya Coots, Josh Coots, Amanda Coots, Emily Coots, Baylen Rivera, Lyla Coots, Cohen Coots, Kenedi Coots, Sawyer Parsons, Norah Parsons, Silas Parsons, and Olive Parsons. His great grandchildren: Briella Orazio, Lincoln Orazio, Levi Melendez, Lainey Melendez, Sophia Coots, and Sadie Coots who will carry forward his legacy of faith and love.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in the life he lived and the faith he held. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 22 E. Dunloup St. in Shawnee,OK on April 11, 2026 at 11:00am.
While we grieve his absence, we do not grieve without hope. The faith he lived by reminds us that this goodbye is not forever. His life was anchored in something greater than this world, and we take comfort in knowing he has stepped into eternal peace.
He ran his race. He fought the good fight, and now he rests in the presence of the one he faithfully served.
Until we meet again...
Boomer Sooner.
