Rickie Frazier Obituary

“So live your life that fear of death can never enter your heart.” - Tecumseh

After complications caused by diabetes, Rickie Dewayne Frazier passed away peacefully on March 11th, 2026 surrounded by loved ones in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

As a young person, Rickie already made an impact on the lives of others that shaped countless, unforgettable memories. Those from his childhood recall a smartly-dressed little boy with a big smile who absolutely loved his Grandpa Richard. They’ll remember summer days spent with him and his siblings, cousins and others; all piled together into vehicles to go play ball or swim. Others will think back on schooldays spent at Little Axe and Noble High School. And the feisty few will remember events and shenanigans unmentioned in his red Pontiac Fiero.

Loved ones will think too about Rickie’s fierce competitive spirit on the basketball court, football field, and softball field. He always said he was built for speed. His smack talk was backed up by a strong work ethic and natural athletic prowess. Spectators, teammates and opponents will relive their favorite memories of his ball-playing days; from golden-glove theatrics, to stealing home-plate and diving over the catcher to win finals at the Egg.

Once upon a time, as infants, he and Lisa shared a playpen together while their mothers played on the same softball team. After they married and began their own family, it was only natural that they instilled the same love of sports in their children. Rick’s coaching, however, did not stop with their girls. Tigerettes, Magic, Ladybugs, Breeze, Dynamite, Knock-outs, Lunatix, Jitterbugs, Twisters, Lady Steal, Lady Indians, and Pride– for decades, his daughters’ teammates also learned to love and respect the game, and to remain lifelong students of its teachings. He coached with equal parts laughter, love and unfaltering expectations. He mentored generations of young ballplayers into confident, humble, powerful women.

In the later years of his life, Rickie still laughed big and smiled bigger. He enjoyed his favorite sports teams. He was a fan of OU, OKC Thunder, the teams played on or coached by his daughters. From the bleachers or the living room couch, his support was full of adoration and a great knowledge of each sport. Whether it was a sport event or community event, Rickie enjoyed talking and catching up with friends. He loved listening to stomp dance and powwow music. And he absolutely loved being a Soma to his grandkids. They loved him back just as hard, and their laughter gave him much happiness.

Rickie was an amazing man, a phenomenal coach, and an even better friend. His memory and legacy lives on through all that knew and loved him.

Rickie is survived by his loving partner of thirty-three years, Lisa Frazier; daughter Devon Frazier-Smith, son-in-law Clifton, and grandchildren Roman and Ruby; daughter Andee Robertson and son-in-law Keith; daughter Kendell Trammell-Lane and son-in-law Adam; sister, Eva Frazier; brother Tony Frazier; and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, extended loved ones and friends. He is preceded in death by his mom Mary Ann Gibson, her husband Cecil “Zeke” Harry, and his grandparents Marie and Richard Gibson.
