Richard Eugene "Dick" Blochowiak, age 78 of McLoud, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at his home.
He was born April 17, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to C. J. "Cassy" and Mary (Klish) Blochowiak. He was raised in Shawnee and attended St. Benedict High School, graduating in 1964. After high school, he earned credits from the Community College of the Air Force.
Dick married Nancy A. Nelson, his high school sweetheart, on August 30, 1968 in Shawnee.
He served 33 years in the United States Air Force Reserves in Air Transportation and Logistics, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. He was activated during Desert Storm and served a 38 year career as a civilian at Tinker Air Force Base, working primarily in logistics.
Dick was a lifelong Shawnee resident and an active member and dedicated volunteer of St. Benedict Catholic Church and Calvary Cemetery. He was active as a Little League coach for all three children. He was a member of the Boy Scouts not only as a youth, but many years as an adult leader. He served as president of Kappa Kappa Gamma Dad's club at OSU. He enjoyed family camp-outs, woodworking, and working on his acreage. He enjoyed building sets for Shawnee Little Theatre productions. He loved restoring old classic cars and attended many car swap meets with his car buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother Bill, and youngest brother Ed.
Those left to cherish his memory are; wife Nancy A. Blochowiak, of the home; son, Richard Blochowiak and wife Celeste of Edmond; son Jeffrey Blochowiak and wife Marcey of McLoud; daughter, Lesley Knowles and husband Rodney of Mustang; one granddaughter, Hannah Blochowiak of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Mary Ann Blochowiak of Edmond; brother, Charles Blochowiak of Ponca City; other relatives and friends.
Memorial Mass will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Christopher Brashears officiating. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
