Rex Allen Elmore, 54, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026.
He was born October 26, 1971, in Oklahoma City to Glen Marchant and Carol (Elmore) Miller.
Rex spent his life in Oklahoma, living in Oklahoma City, Moore, and Shawnee. He was raised in the Nazarene church, where he developed a strong foundation of faith and a deep love for scripture. He attended Living Love Christian Center where his church family was very important to him, and he greatly cherished their constant support and prayers.
He was united in marriage to Gloria Cosper, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith.
Rex proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a medic (corpsman) from 1989 to 1993 and continued his service in the Naval Reserves until 1996. Throughout his working life, he held many roles, including pharmacy technician, manager of several fast-food restaurants, front-end manager at Lowe’s, assistant manager at Walmart, and vendor for Frito-Lay. For the past eight years, he was a dedicated employee of Shawnee Milling.
Rex enjoyed a wide range of interests. He took pride in yard work and had a passion for stocks and bonds, often researching investments and sharing his knowledge with others. He loved history, especially topics related to veterans and the armed forces. He also enjoyed bowling and delighted in friendly competition—especially when challenging his grandchildren. A devoted sports fan, Rex loved all sports but especially supported Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Those who knew Rex best describe him as goofy, genuine, knowledgeable, wise, kind, faithful, funny, a true gentleman, honorable, caring, passionate, and thoughtful. His presence brought warmth and laughter to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Miller; and his brothers, Royce Elmore and Kenneth Miller.
Rex is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Elmore of the home; stepdaughters, Amanda Lloyd and Elizabeth Jones; stepson, Billy Goodnight and his wife Felicia; grandchildren, Nathan and Katie Lloyd, Jeremiah and Colton Jones and Little Billy and Madden Goodnight; sister, Michele Coffman; sister-in-law and niece, Beth and Gabbie Miller; sister-in-law, Jeanne Jones and her husband Rick; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and close friends who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, with family present to greet friends and loved ones from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Living Love Christian Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with Reverend Mark Guinn officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
Rex will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of faith, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
