Reverend Herman Searcy Obituary

Reverend Herman Marion Searcy, age 90, of Mcloud, OK.  passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his home in McLoud.

Herman was born March 24, 1933 in the Wilzetta Community near Prague OK, to Verna and Anna (Mercedes) Searcy.

Herman was raised in Paden OK and a Paden High School graduate.

He met the love of his life Carol Juanita Ady in Paden. After a short courtship they were married on February 6, 1952 in Oklahoma City, OK. This marriage was blessed for more than 64 years until her passing on August 18, 2016

Herman was an ordained minister and was a member of Assemblies of God.  He preached Revival services in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri.  He was also the pastor in the Assemblies of God Churches in Stroud, Wister, Crescent, Kendrick, Jarvis and most recently served as a fill-in preacher and Sunday school teacher at McLoud.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carol Searcy; daughter, Sonja Joy Voss, four brothers, Elmer Searcy, Arthur Searcy, Edward Searcy, Melvin Searcy. Six sisters, Hazel Dibler, Bernice Quinn, Stella Quinn, Anna Bell Allen, Veda Dodson and Bonnie Yvonne Searcy.

He was survived by his daughter, Toni Yolanda Bowen and her husband Vance of McLoud, OK,  two grandsons, Shad Aaron West and his wife Wendy of McLoud, OK and Michael Bowen and his wife Natalie of Norman, OK;  two granddaughters, Brittany Waddle and husband Matthew of Moore, OK, Jessica Deason and husband Andrew of Piedmont, OK;  seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Brooks Bowen, Aiden, Carter and Emmett Deason and Owen and Maci Waddle; two sisters, Willie Johnson, Darlene Boyd and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Herman enjoyed boating and fishing with family and friends and spending as much time outside as possible. He enjoyed building things, including his house where he and Carol lived for more than 25 years and a cabin at Lake Eufaula, where he and Carol spent much of their time. He was most happy when he was surrounded by his great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. We find comfort and solace in knowing he was met at The Pearly Gates by his daughter and life-long love.
