Reta Jane Bowen

Reta Jane Bowen, of Asher, OK passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her home.

She was born September 24, 1939 in Asher, OK to J. Hal and Loretta Owen.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Kimberly Holman.

She is survived by her husband, Murl Bowen, grandson Corey Holman and wife Caylie, son-in-law Ron Holman, one great-granddaughter Anna Jane Holman, and many friends and family.

Reta graduated Asher High School as salutatorian in 1957 and later graduated from East Central University, Ada, OK.  She then began teaching at Asher Elementary School where she taught for twenty-five years. 

Reta loved attending the Asher Baseball games where Murl coached.  She also enjoyed spending time at the lake where she worked to perfect her skills in waterskiing.  She also enjoyed working on the cattle farm and would spend many hours checking and feeding the cows with her dad.

She also enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to visit Australia, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Mediterranean.  Reta was a member of the Asher First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, June 16, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.  Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Tecumseh First Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Hamilton officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
