Randy Keith Briggs

Randy Keith Briggs, age 68, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 5:44 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with his loving wife by his side, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

He was born on January 21, 1955 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Carl and Edna (Halford) Briggs the 4th baby out of 7 that the Briggs’ were blessed with.

Randy attended Bethel Schools and graduated with the class of 1972 from Bethel High School.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1975 and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1979.

Randy married Debbie Thompson in 1977 in Gainesville, Texas.  In 1979 they moved back to Oklahoma with a new addition to the family, a daughter, Angela (Briggs) Benson. They went on to love another daughter, Lori Briggs and then a son, Mitchell Briggs.

He worked hard for General Motors for 35 years, finally retiring to enjoy life.  Randy enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, flint napping, anything that let him use his hands.  He was never an idle man, always doing something outside.  His projects were plentiful and he always had a helper whether it was a child or grandchild underfoot.  Randy was always teaching what he knew to his grandkids and kids.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Briggs; his father, Carl Briggs; and son-in-law, Shawn Harlan; and sister-in-law, Carleta Thompson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debbie Briggs of the home; 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Angela  and Jonathan Benson and Lori Briggs; 1 son, Mitchell Briggs; 20 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law, Terry and Pam Briggs, Pat Briggs, Royce and Kathie Briggs and Michael Briggs; 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Connie Mathew and Jim Wilkins, and Nancy and Chuck Boyer;  2 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, Jolene and Max Hunt and Nickie Nelson; 1 brother-in-law, Morris Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023 and continue through service time.   Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Townsend, Bethel Acres Assembly officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
