Pauline Virginia (Brady) Johnson, age 98, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 in McLoud, Oklahoma.
She was born on February 17, 1926 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Willie Brady and Edna Scott.
In 1944, Pauline met Henry at a dance in Shawnee and the rest was history. Pauline Virginia Brady and Henry “Cheese” Johnson married March 8, 1949, in Gainesville, Texas.
They had 7 kids and that led to…17 grandkids, 32 great grandkids, and 31 great-great grandkids.
During her long fulfilling life Pauline enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, watching her grandkids and great grandkids play many sports, participating in tribal traditions, Pauline was a proud member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, prior to her death she was the oldest tribal female member. She loved shopping, traveling, watching Wheel of Fortune, and supporting Oklahoma Sooners football. In the last four years of her life Pauline enjoyed going to Full Circle where she played games, did activities, and ate lots of ice cream.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Cheese” Johnson; daughters, Edna “Girly” Johnson, Linda “Sue” Blanchard, and Aline “Dink” Gibson; son-in-law, Anthony “Frog” Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Diana “D.K.” Johnson, sons, David Lee Johnson, Lewis “Jim” Johnson of Norman. Henry “Bud” Johnson Jr. and wife Cleta of Newalla; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Tribal Rites will be Friday evening, November 15, 2024 at Brendle Corner in Little Axe, Oklahoma. Burial will be Saturday morning, November 16, 2024 at Johnson Family Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
