Patsy Straughan

Patsy Straughan, age 80, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at Avonlea Cottages in Seminole, Oklahoma.

She was born August 29, 1944 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, a daughter of Lloyd "Spy" and Hazel L. Straughan.

Patsy was raised Christian and had a full career teaching middle school physical education at Shawnee Public Schools and coaching many student athletes. Patsy was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh.

She was a dog lover and a fan of all sports, especially when played by the University of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City Thunder. She enjoyed playing golf with friends. She was known for her strong will throughout life.

Patsy was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother and sister-in-law: Bill and Nova Dean Straughan of Tecumseh; and nephew, Van Straughan of Shawnee.

She survived by her niece, Terri Straughan of Tecumseh, great niece Jenny Houck and wife Tay; great great nephew and niece Zayden and Nova Houck of Moore;  great nephew Tanner Thompson and husband Mike Woods of New York; great nephew: Bradley Straughan and wife Lauren; and great great nephews and niece Leon, Ragnar and Sapphire of Shawnee; also extended family,  Margaret Scallorn, Debbie DeGraffenreid, Michael DeGraffenreid and Rodger Robbins, Jamie and Dusty Rector, and many lifelong friends.

Donations can be made to Tecumseh Alumni Association or Frontier Hospice in Patsy's honor.  

Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 4, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel.  Inurnment following the service will be at Tecumseh Cemetery, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
