Michael James Lloyd Shirey

What a celebration in Heaven there was when Mike joined his Heavenly family on the morning of Dec 26, 2020.

Waiting for him with open arms was Jesus Christ - his friend, Lord  & Savior; his best friend & brother, Noah Shirey; grandmothers, Pauline "Mema" Shirey and Novella Sue Ely; grandfathers, Richard Rainey and W. J. Shirey; precious great-grandparents, Tom & Pearl Rainey and Ruth & Doyle Fry; aunt Linda Rainey and great-aunt, Carabee McLaughlin.

Mike was born May 2, 1983 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Jana Jacobs and Jim Shirey. Mike was energetic and full of life from the time he was born.

Mike never met a stranger and loved to talk and sing at an early age. Mike loved his family and he loved Jesus.

Mike spent his younger years in Tecumseh, Oklahoma enjoying sports and learning about Jesus at Liberty Baptist Church. His family then moved to Cody, Wyoming where he continued his love of sports. He played football, baseball and competed at state on his wrestling team. Cody, Wyoming is also where his love of the mountains and of snow skiing began.

 He returned to Tecumseh for his high school years and graduated in 2001.  "Big Mike" lettered in powerlifting, baseball, and football. He was especially proud of being a member of the Tecumseh Savage Football Team. His pride and joy in high school was his 1966 Chevelle SS. Mike attended UCO in Edmond, Oklahoma. 

He was an Entrepreneur, he was creative, and he could build anything. He worked as a carpenter and custom cabinet maker for many years.   Mike was then called - and set out to follow his true passion of helping people by opening his shop, Namah, (not about money about health). He loved his shop, and cared for all that entered those doors. 

Mike was a member of Bethel Acres Assembly Church, and he loved all Over-Comers.

Left here on earth to celebrate his life include his beautiful daughter, Gracie; his mom and stepdad Jana & Carl Jacobs; his dad, Jim Shirey; his grandmothers, Ruth Rainey & Virginia Jacobs; sisters and brothers, Amanda "Cedar", BJ, Nathan, Trista & Curtis, Kim & Mary; aunts & uncles, Steve Rainey, Susan & John Storm, Bill Shirey, Arvin & Frances Bates; neices & nephews, Ocean Thunder, Chaley, Sierra, Spencer, Eli, Jace, Reed, Adin, Melanie & Savannah; and many loving cousins & friends. 

Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home. Please join us for a Celebration of Mikes life to be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at Life Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery, Tecumseh, OK.
