Michael Rory Shearer was born on October 22, 1958, in Norman, Oklahoma to Hugh and Winona Shearer.
Michael passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the age of 66.
He was a very compassionate person. Every year he celebrated his birthday on Heidi’s birthday and spent it with her. Their birthday was on the same day.
Michael worked at General Motors for 30 years. He retired at the age of 49 years old. When the plant General Motors closed down in Oklahoma City.
Michael married the love of his life Carol Sue Rhoads in an outdoor wedding on November 6, 2010. In 2016 they moved to Kissimmee, Florida. Carol always commented it was their honeymoon. Three years later they moved back to Shawnee, Oklahoma. Michael and Carol remodeled their home together. They loved camping, going to restaurants, going to the shrimp boat buying shrimp, going to the ocean many times and loved to go to Karaoke. Michael loved to grill and on Thanksgiving he would smoke Turkey and ham. He loved to cook. Melinda loved her dad Michael cooking chicken and dumplings. He was Carol’s pooh Bear, and Carol his Snuggle Bunny. They loved going to the movie theatre together. Michael was the love of Carol’s life. Michael loved his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Michael was a member of Wallace Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Left to cherish the memories are his siblings, Robert and Sara Shearer, Garry and Kathleen Shearer, Larry and Beth Shearer; son, Jeremiah; daughters, Melinda and Mia; stepdaughter, Heidi Heyenga, Christine Rhoads and stepson, Lester Rhoads who called him dad, two grandsons, James and Aiden, along with numerous family and friends. Michael is proceeded in death with his parents, Hugh and Wynona Shearer, sisters, Lynda Smith and Kathy Shearer.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with his brother, Robert Shearer and Pastor Blake Martin, Wallace Baptist Church, Shawnee, OK officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
