Melinda Gober, 62, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020 in Oklahoma City.
She was born July 5, 1957 to Melvin and Ruth (Richardson) Farris in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Melinda was born and raised in the Shawnee area and graduated with the class of 1975 from Bethel High School. She lived in California, Missouri and Texas but Shawnee was her home.
Melinda worked in many different fields in her life and if it could be done she could do it. She owned Sherry’s Steak House in Shawnee, Touch of Class in Norman, M & M Paint and Body Shop and worked as a lineman for S.W. Bell Telephone. She was very competitive, whether corn hole or basketball she could beat you.
Melinda loved the simple things in life, music, cooking, spending time kids and grandkids and all of her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ruth Farris; brother, Glenn Farris; and sister, Doris Rodriguez.
Survivors include her life partner and her best friend, Marilyn Pickens of the home; 2 sons, Chris and Jennifer Gober of Oklahoma City and Greg and Sandra Gober of Kansas; daughters, Michelle and Jeremy Moore of Shawnee, Jennifer and Kevin Mathews of Shawnee and Lyndsay and Keenan English of Edmond; 6 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Richard Giles; nieces, Dianne and Teresa; and nephew, Richard; special friends, Tony and Linda; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home. Private family Graveside Service will be at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
