Max Hunt, age 79, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
He was born October 3, 1944 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Hack and Hazel (Patten) Hunt.
Max was raised in Macomb and graduated from Macomb High school with the class of 1962.
Jolene saw Max at age 14, working at H & H Grocery in Macomb, they began dating in 1967 and were married on December 15, 1969. Together, they raised their family in Macomb where they lived until 2001, then moved to Seminole and in 2011 they made their home in Tecumseh.
Max proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard. Upon discharge from military service, Max drove the school bus for Macomb Public Schools until 1971. He was appointed Postmaster of Macomb, Oklahoma starting in 1971, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a faithful member of Macomb High School Alumni, never missing annual reunions. Max served on the Macomb School Board, Pottawatomie County Development Authority and 911 Pottawatomie County Committee. He was a member and served as Master Mason of the Macomb Lodge 1999, later joining Altus Masonic Lodge and was a 32 degree Mason, Scottish Rite Consistory, McAlester, Oklahoma.
He had a passion for motorcycles, and a love for horses since his childhood. Max loved traveling to Branson, Missouri and Colorado. He enjoyed camping, especially at Arbuckle Lake and holidays with his family and enjoyed attending Brody's athletic events; his life centered around his family.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Hack and Hazel Hunt; and sisters, Jaqueta Nix and Twana Nadeau.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Jolene (Thompson) Hunt of Tecumseh, OK; daughters, Kristi Hunt and (Tony Webb) of Earlsboro, OK and Amy Cook (Kevin) of Shawnee, OK; 1 grandson, Brody Peters; 1 sister and 1 brother-in-law, Joleen and Ivan Hatler of Macomb, OK; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024 and continue through service time. Family will gather from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024 to greet friends and family. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
