Mary “Connie” Houck, 86, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 in Shawnee.
She was born December 10, 1933 to James Franklin and Rosabelle (Marble) King in Norman, Oklahoma.
Connie was raised in the Franklin area East of Norman. She attended grade school at Franklin Public Schools and high school at Norman Public Schools.
She married James L. Houck on May 20, 1950 in Norman, Oklahoma. They moved to the Dallas area in the early 1950’s and moved back to Oklahoma and settled in the Tecumseh area in 1972 where they made their home.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed taking care of her home and family. She worked outside the home as a nurse’s aide at Sunset Estates in Tecumseh for many years.
Connie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved reading, working puzzles and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Houck; parents, James and Rosabelle King; 1 sister, Anita Hungerford; and 2 brothers, James King and Jerry King.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, James Houck of Tecumseh; 1 daughter and 1 son-in-law, Valinda and Rick Shelton of Tecumseh; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Vernon and Sherrie Houck of Shawnee and Rick Houck of Greensboro, NC; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bud and Alinda King of Houston, TX; and other extended family and friends.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Mixon officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
