Mary Wise Obituary

Mary Ellen Wise, 81, of Earlsboro, Oklahoma passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 18, 2020. 

She was born on February 18, 1939 to Clarence Stanley and Pearl Edith (Wells) Windes in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

Mary was a Bethel resident most of her life and grew up in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City. 

Mary owned and operated “Granny’s Wonders”. She was a seamstress for the public making uniforms, suits, wedding dresses, other clothing and blankets for her grandchildren. 

She enjoyed time going to the casinos, crocheting for the Kaleo foundation making as many as 20 hats per week for children in need, and making crafts. She kept the roads hot visiting and checking in on relatives and old friends. She always wanted to be busy by doing something meaningful, such as laundry, grocery shopping and running errands. She was fond of family game nights playing wahoo, uno, skipbo and dominos. She especially loved her time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She always had candy, a toy or loose change for them. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Denesha; son, Ricky; husband, Leroy Dement; and 9 brothers and sisters. 

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dan Megehee of Earlsboro; sister, Marjorie Foster of Oklahoma City; 5 grandchildren, Todd Renshaw, Whitney Megehee, Allison Dunn, Brittney Wilkins and Zachary Van Dyke; 6 great grandchildren, Elijah Renshaw, Chloe Sewell, Makayla Ballard, Hollie Dunn; Hayden Dunn, and Bonnie Wilkins; and numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Graveside Service will be Wednesday July 22nd, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunnylane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma with Dan Megehee officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting to send a donation to the Kaleo foundation in memory of Mary. Donations can be made through their website at www.thekaleofoundation.org or by mail to 5830 N.W. Expressway, Suite 249 Oklahoma City, OK 73132. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC and State of Oklahoma Regulations and Guidelines, groups of 250 or fewer will be limited to attended funerals, which includes church services as well as chapel services and graveside services with social distancing.
