Martin Starr

Martin Starr age, 86 of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was born on January 24, 1938 in Concho, Oklahoma to Theodore and Lucille (Green) Starr.

Martin was raised in Goodland, Oklahoma.  He graduated from Goodland High School with the class of 1956.  He moved back to the Shawnee/Meeker area, then moved to Norman, where he spent most of his life before moving back to Shawnee.  Martin also lived in the Mesa and Pheonix, Arizona when he was young.

Martin worked as a chef for several restaurants in Shawnee and Arizona.

He loved doing bead work, crocheting, knitting, playing pool and going to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Martina Starr; parents, Theodore and Lucille Starr; sisters, Margaret Ellis, Luvenia Tiger, Mary Torrez-Salazar, Rebecca Roubidoux and Bernice Blanchard; and brothers, Jimmy Gibson, and Rance George Starr

Martin is survived by 2 sons, David Starr of Shawnee, and Lloyd Starr of Mesa, AZ; sister, Vera Walker; brothers, Thomas White and Edward” Chuck” White of Shawnee, OK; and other extended family and friends.

Tribal Rites will be held Thursday evening, February 1, 2024 at the Creek Family Home, 5200 Bethel Road, Shawnee, Oklahoma with Melvin Wilson officiating. Burial will be Friday morning, February 2, 2024 at Creek Family Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
