Marguerite Byerly Obituary

Marguerite “Margy” Byerly, 88, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 in Edmond, Oklahoma. 

She was born June 20, 1931 to D.D. and Rosa Dale (Berry) McCuistion in Seminole County, Oklahoma. 

Margy was reared in Carr City outside of Seminole and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City. 

She married Alfred Byerly on February 17, 1951 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  After marriage they lived in Southern California for a few years before returning to Wanette and settled into ranching.  Alfred preceded her in death on September 24, 2003.  In 2005 she moved to Tecumseh where she has lived since. 

Margy worked as shot peener operator at Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement. She was a devoted wife, homemaker and proud rancher. 

She was a member of Wanette Church of Christ for many years and currently a member of Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh. 

Margy enjoyed fishing, ranching, keeping busy and loved being an aunt.  There was nothing she couldn’t do once she set her mind to do it. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Byerly; stepdaughter, Ann Morris; 5 sisters; and her parents. 

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Gabriella George of Sun City, CA; sister, Rose Mary Thomas of Chandler, OK brother, Robert McCuistion of Tecumseh, OK; step-grandchildren, Paul and Debbie George of Rohnert Park, CA, Nick George of San Francisco, CA; many nieces and nephews; her Highland Church of Christ family; and many loving friends. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home.  Private Family Service will be held at ­10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2020 with Erick Henson, Tecumseh Highland Church of Christ officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.  Due to the COVID 19 virus please join us on Cooper Funeral Home Facebook page for live streaming of the service.
