She was born March 16, 1934 to Carlos and Viola Haug, in Shallow Water, Kansas.
Margaret attended Shawnee Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1952.
She married Billy Joe Newsom on May 3, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Shawnee.
She worked in various office positions including First Federal Savings & Loan, Federal National Bank and retired from the Pottawatomie County Court Clerk’s office.
She enjoyed traveling with Bill to Tennessee and New Mexico and attending the Sword of the Lord conferences. She loved going to southern gospel music concerts, and especially loved hearing Kenny Hinson and the Hinson family.
Margaret treasured the time she spent with her loved ones. Her greatest happiness came from her family – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Newsom; her parents, Carlos and Viola Haug; six sisters and one brother.
Margaret leaves behind a legacy of love and many cherished memories. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Cathy Kennedy, Connie Newsom, Rick Newsom, and Tina Sims and spouse Ronnie Sims; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mona Haig; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret will be remembered for her warm heart, her love of family, and her caring spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Meeker Nursing Center and the Centric Hospice nurses for their loving care and kindness to our mother.
