Linda Joye Spaugy, age 80, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born August 22, 1944 in Dinuba, California to Limuel Lawrence and Thelma Naomi (Turnbow) Couey. She was raised in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1962.
Linda married Nolan Spaugy on September 14, 1989 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She worked at the Department of Pubic Welfare (which later became DHS), then United Methodist Children's Services in Oklahoma City helping families adopt children. After that she worked as an executive secretary for Allen Bradley Company which later became TDK in Shawnee. She was an avid member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. She joined the Shawnee Square 8s square dance club in 1985 with her husband Nolan, and continued dancing until the week before she passed. She never met a student she couldn't teach to square or round dance.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Alice Couey; her stepfather, Bryant Chamblin; her husband, Nolan Spaugy; her sister, Barbara Bundesen; and her brother, James Chamblin.
Those left to cherish her memory are; daughter, Kelli Littlehead and husband Tracy of Edmond; stepson, Chris Spaugy and wife Patti of Bethel Acres; stepdaughter, Laura Manners of Shelburne Falls, MA; brother, Jim Couey and wife Georgianne of Midwest City; brother, Gary Chamblin of Ventura, CA; brother, Tony Chamblin and wife Janie of Guthrie; grandchildren, Mysti Totten, Maesyn Littlehead, Cathryn Spaugy, Krystin Haugen, Ronnie Wilson, Robert Lanham, Keith Irish, Ashley Boyd, and Jacob Manners; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Craig officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
