Larry Paul Trice, age 75, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Larry attended Barnard and enjoyed talking about their adventures of sliding down the fire escape, then to middle school with more adventures. He completed the ninth grade.
Larry was raised on East Main in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, he lived in Shawnee with his grandparents (Lacey and Mildred Alston) and worked on their farm.
He married Judy, the love of his life in February of 1970, and they continued to live in Shawnee.
In 1972 they bought their farm where they continued to live.
Larry worked at Wolverine, Western Electric in Oklahoma City. He then started pumping wells for Altmen Oil for $5.00 a day (that was 4 wells), later Gulf Energy and then Kirby Exploration out of Houston, Texas. This is where he met George Best, he taught him the basics of drilling for oil. They remained friends. Larry started Apexco Inc. in the 1970’s and it still exists with family ownership.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judy Trice; son Mike of Tecumseh, OK and wife Tara Trice of TX; son Todd of Tecumseh, OK; grandchildren, Tristan of Seattle, WA; Joshua and wife Bre of Shawnee, OK; Jacob and fiancé’ Lexi of Cleo Springs, OK; great grandson Gavin of Seattle, WA; Aunt Sannie Deatherage; cousins, Melanie Corter and Millie Tibbits; 4 half-sisters, Linda and Trudy of FL; Sheila of MS; Becky of TX; and one half-brother, Monte of FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024 and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home with family gathering at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins of Sharon Baptist Church, Tecumseh, Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024 and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024 with family gathering from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends and family. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
