Larry Patton Obituary

Larry Glen Patton, age 85, Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was born on August 23, 1939, in Stratford, Oklahoma to Amon Patton and Hazel (Kelly) Patton.

Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from October 10, 1956, until his honorable discharge on August 18, 1960.

He married Loretta Stockton on April 30, 1976, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2011.

They lived several years in Midwest City, OK while working at Tinker Field Air Force Base. They built their dream cabin in McLoud, while still employed at TFAB and eventually settling   in Shawnee, OK in 2009.

Larry worked 20+ years as a Machine Shop Supervisor at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement. He became restless with retirement and began working at Central Plastics, Shawnee, OK, for several years as a lathe machinist. Larry’s happiest times was when he was working and helping others with their projects. We as family can all agree to this.

He was a long-time member of First Assembly of God in McLoud, Oklahoma. Larry knew the Lord and he believed with all his heart. He loved our Mighty God and was a very faithful Christian.

Larry loved working on cars, hot rods, playing around with their buggies on the sand dunes and riding motorcycles. He loved life, his family, playing dominoes and piddling in his shop/garage.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Patton; granddaughter, Carrie Williams; and his parents, Amon and Hazel Patton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters,  Debra Riley of Noble, OK, Glenda Miller of Noble, OK, Gloria McBroom of Shawnee, OK, Linda S. Gugler of Shawnee, OK; granddaughters, Angie L Massey of Shawnee, OK, Mandy Womack of Dale, OK, and Lori Akin of Bethel Acres, OK;  grandsons, Joseph Abbott of Noble, OK and Glen Miller of WA; great-grandsons, Colt Abbott of Seminole, OK, Keegan Massey of Shawnee, OK, and  Justice Akin, Airman First Class, US Air Force of Bethel Acres, OK; great-granddaughters, Kenna Lee of Bethel Acres, OK and Emma Akin of Bethel Acres, OK; great-great grandson, Calvin K. Askew of Bethel Acres, OK; brothers, J.A. Patton of Shawnee, OK and Gilbert Patton of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Jaynell Buster of Pauls Valley, OK, Lou Sherman of Blanchard, OK; and other extended family and friends.
