Larry Dean McVey, Sr.

Larry Dean McVey, Sr., 70, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at his home. 

He was born November 24, 1949 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Eddie and Elsie (McElroy) McVea. 

Larry was raised in Watonga and attended grade school in Watonga and middle school in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  Larry later attended Central High in Oklahoma City where he graduated.  He also attended a trade school and earned his certification HVAC in Heat and Air.  After that he attended Wright Business School for business management. 

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. 

He married Sherida Blanch Talton on March 26, 1997 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. 

Larry worked for 30 years at American National Insurance and retired as the District Manager. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Larae; daughter, DeRonda McVea; his parents, Eddie and Elsie McVea; and 8 siblings, Ethel, Ida Mae, Margaret, Buford, Laverne, Beaulah, Henry and Leona. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Sherida Blanch Talton-McVey of Shawnee, OK; 5 sons, Larry Dean McVea, Jr., Lache E. Devon McVea, LaShawn  Devon McVea, LaTeith DeLray McVea, Ronald Eugene Carvers (Trubby); 5 daughters, Wilishe Jackson, Sherida Diane Talton, Jazmya Rai-Nauda Cabrerea, Sherral DeShaun McVea (Coco), and LaRai DeShea McVea (Woo); 26 grandkids; 15 great-grandkids; Also, he will be greatly missed by his very close nephew, Skip Jemison; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2020 and continue through service time.  Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1451 E. 45th Street, Shawnee, Oklahoma  74804 with Pastor Joe Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
