Kathryn “Ann” Boyd, PhD, 75, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at her home.
She was born April 14, 1946 to Lon Boyd, Jr. and Dorthye Kathryn (Gray) Boyd in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Ann was raised in Tecumseh where she attended Tecumseh Public Schools. She graduated with the class of 1964 from Tecumseh High School. Ann earned her Bachelors of Art in Psychology in 1968 from Oklahoma City University. She did her graduate study at Yale Divinity School and earned her Masters of Social Work from O.U. and her PhD from California School of Professional Psychology at Berkley.
Ann was a Clinical Psychologist for 50 plus years retiring from Oklahoma Department of Corrections. After retirement she continued with Q.T.C with the Department of V.A. until her passing.
She loved to travel, was an avid reader and was a supporter of local artists and musicians. Ann was a proud lifelong democrat and activist. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a friend of Bill W. and treasured the friendships she made along that journey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Dorthye Boyd.
Survivors include her brother, William Boyd and Judy of Norman, OK; nieces, Amber Pringle and Tom of Tecumseh, OK and Kacey Komarek and Josh of Owensboro, KY; lifelong friend, Rachel Manuel-Rowland of Lake Charles, LA; great-niece and nephew, Herbie and Alesha Brandon; great-nephew, Tryston Brandon; great-niece and nephews, Jackson, Ethan and Ella Komarek; great-nephew, Ethan and Deklyn Pringle, great-niece, Lindsay Pringle, great-niece, Sarah Devin and Josh Ryan; great-nieces, Ryleigh and Reagan Rowland; her four legged children, Eleanor Roosevelt and Abigail Adams; and many friends.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 at West Wind Unitarian Universalist Church, 1309 West Boyd Street, Norman, OK with Reverend Andy Jacobs officiating. Graveside Service will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
