Judith Anne Hawkins, age 78, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She was born April 21, 1945 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to JB and Wanda Lee (Davis) Slemp.
Judith was raised in Gracemont, Oklahoma and graduated with the class of 1964 from Gracemont High School.
She married the love of her life, Dwight Hawkins on June 7, 1963 in Gracemont, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2015.
Judith was a Southern Baptist pastor's wife, church pianist, church secretary, children's choir director, substitute school teacher, operated an in home daycare, and was a seamstress for the public. Judith and Dwight served in the following Oklahoma churches in ministry, First Baptist Church Achille, First Baptist Church Dickson, Marsden Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Ratliff City two times, First Baptist Church Thackerville and Laverty Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, crossword puzzles, word find books, gardening, canning, and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Hawkins; her parents, JB and Wanda Slemp; and brother, James Richard Slemp.
Those left to cherish her memory are 1 daughter and son-in-law, April and Clint Dawkins of Shawnee, OK; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Julie Hawkins of Cushing, OK; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 2 brother-in-laws, Carolyn and Ken Guthrie of Oklahoma City, OK and Janie Rider West and husband Ted of Stillwater, OK; and other extended family and friends.
The family has designated Hope Pregnancy Center, Sharon Baptist Church Disaster Relief Fund or Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home in care of Sharon Baptist Church, 19002 S. Gordon Cooper Drive, Shawnee, OK 74801 as appropriate for memorials in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home and continue through service time. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2023 at Sharon Baptist Church with son-in-law, Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church and son, Brad Hawkins officiating. Committal will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2023 at Gracemont Cemetery, Gracemont, Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
