Joyce Gunn (Talton) McClarty

Joyce Gunn (Talton) McClarty, 87, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in Shawnee.

She was born June 2, 1937 in Walnut, Mississippi to Jesse and Pauline Gunn.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Gunn; mother and step-father, Pauline and Bell Brooks; brother, Douglas and Russell Brooks; sisters, Linda and Margaret Brooks; and granddaughter, DeRhonda McVea.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Paulzetta Fields of Shawnee, OK, Blanch McVey of Shawnee, OK, and Beverly and Clarence Cooks of Shawnee, OK; sons, RC Talton, Jr. of Shawnee, OK, Randall Talton, Sr. of Shawnee, OK, and John Talton of Shawnee, OK; brother, W. Clay Brooks of Shawnee, OK; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; special cousin, Bobbie Schawo and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Randall Talton, Jr, Anthony Taylor, Raymone Wilson, DeWaylio Talton, Jadako Talton and Bryce Talton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Isiah Talton, Zane Talton, Ronald Cavers, Daré Obasade and LaMarr White.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2025 and continue through service time at Cooper Funeral Home.  Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Immanual Baptist Church, Shawnee, OK with Pastor Joe Wilkes, Fresh Fire Outreach Church, Shawnee, OK officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
