Johnny Lee DeLong, Jr, 65, passed from this life Sunday, November 17, 2024, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
He was born on June 11, 1959 in McPherson, Kansas to John and Clara (Aldrich) DeLong.
Johnny graduated from Tecumseh Public Schools in 1977. He was an active member of FFA, winning awards for his prize show pig. He also honed his woodworking skills, making furniture and other keep sakes for his family. In addition, he graduated from Gordon Cooper Technology Center with a welding certificate. He competed in multiple competitions throughout the state highlighting his welding skills.
He began his working career at Worthington Pump in Shawnee, Oklahoma before moving to Tinker AFB. During his time at Tinker, he maintained the E-3 AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System). He took pride in supporting the Air Force mission until he retired in 2014.
When he was not at Tinker or working the family farm, he enjoyed multiple hobbies. He loved fishing at the pond or being on his boat at the lake. He also spent hours in his woodworking shop making projects for the whole family. He raised hunting dogs and would take them out on trips anytime he had a free moment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara DeLong, 1 great-niece, Ashley Annanders, 1 great-nephew, Robert L. Annanders II and another great nephew.
He is survived by his two sisters, Betty Trammell and her husband Lonnie of Tecumseh, Wanda Williams of Shawnee; five nieces and nephews, Robert Annanders and his wife, Barbara, of Macomb, Lawanda Clark and her husband Carl Wayne of Eufaula, Jeremy Annanders and his wife, Carolyn of Shawnee, Treva Lichty and her husband, Daniel, of Tecumseh and Ellen Hogue and her husband Michael of Tecumseh;13 great-nieces and nephews, Elijah Lichty, Hannah Lichty, Jason Hogue, Ryley Hogue, Errick Annanders and his wife, Terri Sue, Jade Annanders and George, Matthew Clark and his wife Alissa, Nicholas Clark, Stormy Annanders, Kristen Annanders, Billy McCook, Mitchell McCook, and Terry Wayne and his wife, Tabby; 5 great-great nieces and nephews, Kylie Sue, John Wayne, Athena, Onyx and William.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dennis Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
