John Randall Crow Obituary

My beloved John Randall Crow (JR, Randy), after one and half years of battling cancer, went to be with His Lord and Savior at the age of 71, June 12, 2022. 

JR was born on December 22, 1950, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His parents John Harold and Geraldine provided a loving Christian home, where he was instructed in Christian principles and nourished in love. 

He graduated from Norman High School in 1969 and then from the University of Oklahoma in 1971 with a B.A. degree. In 1980 he graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a master degree in Divinity. 

After two years of active duty beginning in 1971 in the United States Navy, Randy joined the Navy Reserve in 1971 Reserve from 1971 to 1977. At the time of his honorable discharge, he was a Class Petty Officer (E-4).  He also continued his work with the Santa Fe Railroad until 1975.  He worked as a salesman for Fox Building Supply in 1976 & 1977 before entering Southern Baptist Seminary in 1978. During his years in seminary, he also worked in construction and as a bus driver. Randy served the Lord as youth director at Brookhaven Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma in 1976/1977; and as Assistant Activities Director at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in Moore, Oklahoma. After graduation from the Seminary, he became a church planter apprentice with the Wabash Baptist Mission in Wabash, Indiana 1981/1982. His first position as pastor was with Trinity Baptist Chapel in Richmond, Virginia from 1982/1987. From there, he went to Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Illinois, where he served until 1994. From 1994 to 2011, he served as a church planter in Breese, Illinois. Randy's final position as pastor was with Faith Baptist Church in Breese, Illinois from 2011 until December 2016. In 2019, Randy & Lydia joined the Southside Baptist Church, Sun City, FL, and became a vital part of the church family as the pastor of senior adults. 

Randy is survived by his wife Lydia, whom he married on June 15, 2003, in Jackson, TN. His daughters - are Rebecca Marie Crow Smith and husband Chase Smith and Rachel Ann Crow Stock and her husband Jeremy Stock. His stepsons - Charles Barry Buntin II and Michael Thomas Buntin. Eight grandchildren - Natalee Smith, Kaeden Smith, Ava Smith, Macy Smith, Harper Smith, Hazel Smith, Elizabeth Buntin, and Olivia Buntin. His brother Don Crow and his wife Dee, sister-in-law Dorothy Crow, sister-in-law Olga I. Sάez, and husband Javier Colon., sister-in-law Mary Horton Splawn and husband Mark. Mother-in-law Hazel Marie Horton; and other extended family and friends. 

Randy is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Horton Crow; daughter, Jenny Marie Crow; Mother, Ina Geraldine McNair Crow; Father, John Harold Crow; brother, Larry Gene Crow; Father-in-law, Santiago Sάez; Mother-in-Law, Olga Sάez; and brother-in-law, Santiago Sάez, Jr. 

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home.  Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chase Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.  Please join the celebration of Randy’s life through Cooper Funeral Home’s Facebook page for live streaming of the service.
