JoElla (Maranell) Thomas

JoElla Thomas, age 74, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on June 30, 2026, surrounded by those she loved.

JoElla was born on October 28, 1951, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to Delmar and Avis (Smith) Maranell. She spent much of her early life growing up in the Seattle area before returning to Oklahoma in 1973, where she made her home in Tecumseh, Shawnee, and later Edmond.

After graduating high school, JoElla attended Seminole Junior College. She built a career as a talented seamstress, working at several exclusive men’s stores and bridal shops. Known for her skill and dedication, she later continued her craft from home, creating beautiful garments for family, friends, and clients.

She had a deep love for creativity and simple joys. She was an avid reader and found great happiness in sewing, quilting, hand-painted ceramics, and various crafts. She had a special affinity for angels, which were a meaningful symbol throughout her life. She also loved cooking and took great pride in preparing meals for her family and friends, cherishing every moment spent together.

JoElla will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cindy Robinson.

JoElla is survived by her loving husband, Garry Thomas; her children, Jennifer Thomas, Jack Thomas, Patrick Thomas, and Mathew Thomas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her brothers, Danny Maranell and Terrance Maranell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones who will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Tecumseh Cemetery, with Garry Thomas officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
