Obituary

James Robert "Jim" Rutters, age 72, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma  went to receive his eternal reward on Friday, August 4, 2023 in Norman, Oklahoma.

James was born March 7, 1951 to John Ray and Betty (Wolfenbarger) Rutters in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

He started preaching at about eight years of age. He was a beloved pastor in the community for over 30 years pastoring at Bethel Temple in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Jim taught history at Central Oklahoma Juvenile Detention Center for many years until he retired.

Jim was an avid reader and loved to read books he checked out from the library.  He loved reading and studying his Bible.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty Rutters; and his father John Ray Rutters.

Jim is survived by many loving friends; and four cousins.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2023 and continue through service time.  Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ellis Gregg, Pastor Mark Guinn and Dwight Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
