James D. Rowell, 84, of Henderson, Texas passed from this life on July 2, 2023, at Primrose Retirement Community in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
James was born June 16, 1939, in Henderson, Texas to the late Mannie D. and Bessie Rowell. James enlisted in the United States Army, where he served three years.
After his return to Henderson, he met the love of his life, Joan McCaffiety. They were married February 3, 1963. Joan preceded him in death on March 19, 2020.
James worked at Eastman Kodack for 35 years, retiring as a supervisor. In addition, he was a roofer and a mechanic, repairing hundreds of vehicles, many with little or no charge.
His passions in life were God, his family, friends, helping others and caring for his beloved dogs throughout the years. In the end, he became a cat person and the proud owner of “Yella Cat”.
James was preceded in death by his wife Joan McCaffiety Rowell; his parents, Mannie and Bessie Rowell; sisters, Fern Love and Mary Nell Downs; brothers, Leldon Rowell and Wayne Rowell.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Dione and Liz Wall of Oklahoma, and sons, Darren Rowell of Oklahoma and Eric Rowell of Texas; sister, Imogene Maurer of League City; sister-in-law, Ann Bradshaw of Henderson; Tommy and Sandra Goode of Henderson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. James D. Rowell 84, of Henderson will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023, in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Burke Brack leading the services.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
